Pelican Pediatric Therapy Services focuses on empowering children and their families to overcome challenges. Our children's therapy services will identify the underlying issues causing the deficits, and the treatment we provide focuses on enhancing the independence of the child while strengthening the family unit.
During your first visit, a therapist will meet with you to discuss your concerns and observe your child participating in a variety of activities. The therapist may conduct specific testing to assess your child’s current abilities and then determine if services are recommended, the frequency for therapy, goals of treatment and ideas for home activities.
Available pediatric therapy services include occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy.
Occupational Therapy focus on the development of children necessary to be successful in their everyday life. A child’s “occupational” skills involve play and this therapy focuses on improving their success in everyday activities that require attention, motor coordination, fine motor skills, sensory processing, visual perceptual skills and strength, such as required for cutting with scissors and handwriting.
Speech and language therapy is provided to children currently struggling with apraxia, articulation, Autism spectrum disorders, augmentative communication, fluency disorders, oral motor skills, phonological disorders, receptive and expressive language delays, stuttering, dysphagia and swallowing.
